FEP and PTFE are both high performance materials. Besides, the applications of them are also similar. However, they are different from each other. Then next, let me show you some differences between them.
Use temperature
PTFE hose has a wide range of use temperature and can be used for a long time at temperatures between -200℃ and 260℃. In addition, PTFE hose still has good compressive strength and tensile strength in high temperature environments. However, FEP hose has a narrower use temperature range. Generally, it is between -180℃ and 200℃. Despite this, FEP hose still performs well in high and low temperature environments.
Transparency
PTFE itself is white and has low transparency. Therefore, the transparency of the hose made is low. FEP has higher transparency, thus the transparency of the hose made from FEP is more than 50%. Therefore, the internal fluid transportation can be observed.
Processing method
PTFE material itself has low viscosity, poor melt processing, and greater processing difficulty. Therefore, it needs to be manufactured by pressing and sintering. FEP has better processing performance. It can be processed by extrusion, injection molding, blow molding and other methods.
Application field
Due to its excellent high temperature resistance, low friction coefficient and electrical insulation, PTFE hose is widely used in aerospace, petrochemical, electronics, automobile and other industries. FEP hose has good heat resistance, corrosion resistance and tensile strength. Therefore, it is suitable for conveying equipment and sealing systems in the fields of food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, etc.
